Schindlers List The film Schindlers List has a tendency to simplify and sentimentalize the character Oskar Schindler compared to the novel Schindlers Ark in which the film is establish on. The film Schindlers List lacks depth and understanding of the character Oskar Schindler, and tends to over dramatize events within the film in which Oskar Schindler is responsible for. The novel Schindlers Ark begins its in-depth documentary story with the earlier life of Oskar Schindler. The novel describes his family life in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and his rebellious teenage years in the newly created read of Czechoslovakia. The novel informs the reader of Oskar Schindlers relationship with his father and how his father dilapidated Oskars mother, in which Oskar never forgave his father for leaving his mother alone.
